Obligiatory X-Men 2 ReviewX2: X-Men United: Rated:PG-13, Director: Bryan Singer For those of you who haven't seen the second installment of the X-Men series, I'll try to keep the review mostly spoiler free. Any major spoilers I'll try to code it in as white text and you'll have to highlight them to read them. If not you may want to plunk down your 8.75 and go see it. Besides I think it's worth it. Our film opens with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) in Alberta looking for the secret government base where he was created. Meanwhile elements of the U.S. government are planning to storm Professor Xavier's (Patrick Stewart) school. Without going into too much detail, Professor X and Cyclops (James Marsden) are kidnapped, Magneto (Ian McKellen) escapes and joins forces with our heroes to rescue Xavier. Really, there are no real surprises in this movie if you know a little bit about the characters involved. In fact I had figured that Jean would make her transition to the Phoenix at the end of the film about halfway into the film. Having said that, if you've seen the first film and know absolutely nothing about the X-Men except what you have seen on the silver screen then you'll enjoy this film. The plot is a little better than the first film, whereas the first film was more of a "pilot" episode, this one is a stand alone story your basic A to B plot with only enough time to introduce the new characters. The CGI effects are cool, And Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming), is now officially my favorite X-Man. Go see this film. ***0 comments 0 Comments:
