The Religious Reich Strikes againThis time they left a recorded petition message thing on my answering machine tape that took up nearly the whole tape. That or the answering machine got sick of their tripe and hung up on them. Anyway, I'm blogging it and making fun of them. I'm a Republican; not a Neo-con Theocrat like we have in the White House and parts of Congress. Anyway, because it's a recording the message picked up midstream and cut off midstream so I ponly got three quotes but they are juicy. "Massachusetts has approved gay marriage. Did you know that if a couple gets married in Massachusetts and moves to another State they can still be considered legally married?" Yeah it's called Full Faith and Credit. It's in the constitution, look it up. That's why you're allowed to get a driver's license in Ohio and drive to Conneticut without getting a license in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. "If you feel marriage is under attack press 1" I think I've said this before, but I've always maintained that marriage is a religious institution. If the Catholic Church does or does not want to recognise same-sex couples that's up to the Church. The government, at the most should recognize civil unions. Which should be between two consenting adults. Period. And here's the best one: "The Stakes are so high that this is nothing less than a civil war between average Americans and the culture of liberal intelectual elites. Wait just a minute! There are more important things going on in this country, like the War, Oil Prices, and everything else that is more likely to tear this country in two before we get to Gay Marriage. Second, is what they're saying that average "conservative" Americans are dumb while cultural elites are intellectuals. I'd rather be an considered an elite intellectual if "average Americans" = dumb. 0 comments 0 Comments:
