Missed Me By That Much...So, today I'm cleaning my house in preparation for the big birthday bash tomorrow. I hear a *whompfh*, not sure where the heck it came from, but it wasn't someone at the door so I went back to cleaning, thinking something fell over in a closet or something. A few minutes later, winamp stopped and so I go to my computer to load up a new song list and glance outside. My first thought was "I don't have a bush there, why the hell is there a bush in my front yard?" Mind you at the time, it has been relatively calm, no wind, no lightning, so I'm pretty sure what you're about see was caused by rot and disease and the tree just finally giving up to it. Anyway, I wander out to investigate and this is what I saw: This last photo is of a bee or what was a bee. It looks like that it was minding its own business collecting pollen for its sweet sweet honey (or something) from all flowers or whatever was on the tree. Heck, I'm not even sure what kind of tree it is/was. Anyway, I think when the tree fell over; it took a header right into the curb, with the momentum of the tree falling plus gravity. I'd also like to think that the last thing that went through his head, other than that curb, was how the hell Andy Dufresne ever got the best of him. (If you've seen The Shawshank Redemption you'll get the joke. If you haven't, go rent it!) So here's the funny thing. Since the tree fell on to my property, I'm technically responisble for disposing of it. (However my neighbor is doing the right thing and taking care of it). Nevermind the tree is on her property and it's been rotting for God knows how long. Wait, it gets better. Since, thankfully, there wasn't any damage to my house or to my driveway and my car, again thankfully because I can count on one hand the number of payments left, was in the garage, I don't have a homeowners claim. The important thing is that no damage and no injuries. 2 comments 2 Comments:Great pictures, Mike, although it's scary how close the tree came to your house and car. I'm glad your neighbor is doing the right thing and taking care of having the tree removed. Thanks for posting the pictures! By , at 10:59 PM
Actually, I think the neighbor is responsible and their homeowner's insurance should take care of any costs, as you could sue them for the damages, both direct and consequential. But I'm not an attorney, so what do I know? By , at 2:29 PM
