They. Must. Be. MINE!The tickets that is. What tickets you ask? Well, I'm glad you asked gentle reader. The tickets in question are the back to back to back showings of the Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring Extended version, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Extended Version, and Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King on December 16th. Click here for the official announcement. I will drive just about anywhere with a carload of friends so we can pull this off. I'll keep you posted when I get more information. Aaaugh!NPR did a piece on the Wilhelm a couple years ago and someone posted the article on Fark.com recently. It has more information than you could possibly want to know about this famous scream. Its been in almost every movie Lucas has been involved with and also in the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Here's a decent size list of apperances of the Wilhelm. Check it out, you can also listen to the NPR piece if you have a real (sigh) player. Sunday, August 17, 2003

Weekend in CincyI spent this Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon down in Cincinnati watching the Bengals and the Reds and being the sharing person that I am, I thought I'd share my experiences with you, my loyal readers. First on the way down I got tagged by the friendly Warren County Sheriff in a speed trap. Great way to start off the weekend huh? Anyway, I'm just glad that the third track on the CD I had made that day wasn't playing when he walked up to talk to me. So, after I accepted my ticket for 52 in a 40 (the 40 zone is about a mile long with 50 zones on either side), I went with my aunts to Paul Brown Stadium. As we were parking in the season ticket holders area we were given this special message: It's a nice message and maybe, just maybe the Bengals can turn it around this year. They did look good in the preseason game against the Detroit Lions. Our first round pick Carson Palmer went 7 for 7 for 95 yards and 2 TD passes. It was all good. Sunday I went to see the Reds play the Houston Astros down at Great American Ball Park. First let me say that if you get a chance to go down to this beautiful park, GO. There is not a bad seat in the house and the tickets run from $5 to $250 but most tickets are $30 and under. Not much to say about the game, it was a hot day sitting five rows back from third base (!) but we saw some great defensive stops by the Reds 3rd baseman Juan Castro (not to mention the fact he hit what proved to be the game winning homerun in the fourth inning). So I went two-fer-two this weekend, seeing both much-maligned teams win, it was a good weekend. Monday, August 11, 2003

California here I comeOk not really, but if i could raise the $3500 and get 65 signatures I could run for govenor of California. That is run against Father Guido Sarducci, the Terminator, Gary Coleman, the porn-star, Larry Flynt, a 100 year-old, and a former commissioner of Baseball and oh yeah the other 188 other frickin candidates! If you thought Florida 2000 was a circus, then you ain't seen nothin yet. There are some California Counties that can't handle 195 candidates. Imagine this ballot, If you think Gov. Davis should be recalled punch hole number one on ballot one. If not punch hole number two. Now, if your candidate's last name begins with the letter 'R' punch number 3. If your candidate's last name begins with the letter 'W' punch #4, ad nauseum. Yes, that's the real order they picked the order via bingo tumbler. Comparatively not that badCountdown with Keith Olbermann had an interesting piece about the first war-time correspondants, "live" from the battlefield. Live, being at the battle of Gettysburg. Nonetheless, its kind of interesting people are decrying the administration over the loss of a couple hundred lives while both sides lost 50,000 combined (killed/wounded) over the three days of battle. I can't imagine what would have happened in today's world if one side lost that many men in that short of period of time. Impeachment hearings because the President sent so many young men to die, world court hearings for war crimes, etc. Now, before you send me a nasty e-mail telling me how George's war in Iraq is wrong and we've lost too many lives already etc. I agree with you to an extent. However the deed is done and we have two choices, we can either pull out and let anarchy reign, or we can stay there help establish a democracy and pray that people will calm down and not kill anymore of service men and women. As my headline says, while it *is* tragic that we've lost so many good men and women, compared to July 1, 2, & 3 1863, it's not that bad and we should thank our lucky stars. Monday, August 04, 2003
