Schwarzengger - Lay MeetingAs reported on Jim's website Schwarzengger had a "secret" meeting during the California Energy Crisis with Kenneth Lay of Enron. While some go into a panic and believe that he's now in bed with said energy company. To this I say: What. the. f---? He went to a meeting. Period. If he was really in bed you'd think the watchdog groups could find a vein of corruption bigger than an e-mail that mentions his name with other CEOs, CFOs, etc. While we're crucifying Arnold for being in with the evil Enron, you might as well nail the CFO to Apple computers, the CEO of Knight-Ridder new service (its a distribution service) and the CEO of Sun Microsystems. Yes they aren't running for governor but at the time neither was Arnold. It would be one thing if it was a contributor list or an e-mail saying that we've paid off these CEOs to keep quiet. I truly believe that Enron would have happened under Gore, McCain, or even Clinton, if he (god-forbid) got a third term. Even so, this is corporate McCarthyism. "Have you ever been to a meeting with a company that was later found out to be screwing over the public?" As for the fear that he's the next Ronald Reagan, the man hasn't taken office yet. While he is a registered Republican, he's definitely not as arch-conservative as Bush or Ashcroft. He's Pro-choice, supports gay rights, endorses "reasonable" gun control, and environmental regulation. Not exactly a bulhorn for the Republican Party there. So those of you who are worried that we'll have another Florida, with blocking minority voting and hanging chads, just take a deep breath and take a step back and let's see what happens for the next six months before Arnold is recalled. 0 comments 0 Comments:
