Best. DVD Collection. Evar.

Well, almost. I just picked up the "Looney Tunes Golden Collection" today. Its got some very funny and classic shorts. 4 DVDs, One for Bugs, One for Daffy and Porky and two for the rest. Although Bugs finds his way on to each disk. Two of the "Duck Season! Rabbit Season!" shorts, plus the classic "Feed the Kitty", which is an all time favorite of mine. This is the one where a dog named Marc Antony adopts a kitten and keeps him hidden from his mistress and thinks she baked the kitty into cookies and the facial expressions are a classic. This was also copied for the trash compactor scene in Monsters Inc. . On the DVD are commentaries, music only tracks, featurettes. Two glaring ommisions that need to be on the next collection, first "What's Opera Doc?" and second, Robin Hood Daffy. But this is not to say I'm unhappy with the collection. First they are uncut which means they left the suicide scene in "Tortise Wins by a Hare" and the Russian Roulette scene in "Ballot Box Bunny". I'm sure that there are other scenes that were cut for "the sake of the children" or for PC reasons but I'm glad they're in here.

News, Notes, and Billy Goats

I haven't posted in a while, so I'll write ala Larry King for some things, go into greater detail for others.

Well, the world survived the Apocolpyse with the Cubs' Curse of the Billy Goat (ha! didn't think I could squeeze a billy goat into this did you?) and the Red Sox's Curse of the Bambino preventing them from going to the World Series and bringing the 7 plagues upon the Earth. However, if you like alternate realities (and I know I do), then visit Espn.com's Page 2's Alternate World Series. Click here for games 1 and 2, here for 3, 4, and 5 and here for games 6 and 7.

According to The Germatriculator, this site has been rated (before this current post) as 40% evil! (or 60% good). I'll even post the handy little picture patch thingy here:
This site is certified 40% EVIL by the Gematriculator

Saw the Movies Kill Bill and The Rundown. Both good flicks, I'm not gushing over it like some websites but both fine fine movies in their own right. First Kill Bill, it's a real shame New Line had to chop this into two parts. It works, but because of some film named Return of the Jedi-King (oor something like that) we have to wait until February to catch Part Two (yeah they say they wanted to wait until next year so it could keep for the 2005 Oscars but let's face it, if any film goes up against Lord of the Rings, it's probably going to lose. So we have to wait 5 months between films. Will it lessen the experience of part 2? We'll see. I should say that if you haven't seen this film, you probably should, knowing that there is a lot of anime style blood flow. (i.e. There's no way in hell the body reacts like that when someone loses a head).

His father is the District Attorney! Unintentional Comedy Gold right there folks.

Went to Trader's World, Saturday (this now being Monday, October 27th) picked up a game from my childhood, Star Wars: Escape from the Death Star Game. Its got everything except the little standy pieces and I'm working on procuring those. Its a neat little board game where you play our heroes as they escape from the Death Star and pick up the Death Star Plans (presumably that means R2 and 3PO) and shut off the tractor beam. Speaking of unintentional comedy gold, the best card reads "Win Light Saber Duel with Darth Vader Move Ahead 3." Excuse me? If I beat Vader with a lightsaber I'm takin over the bloomin thing and blowing up some stuff. Anyway for $8 it was a steal. Now maybe I should find the follow up, "Destroy the Death Star."

Daylight Savings Time ended yesterday. Days are getting shorter, as I write this its now 6:05 pm and the sun is almost totally set. *Sigh* I miss Summer already.

I admit I'm not a huge college football fan, I follow it on the net and root for my Alma Mater but I have to admit it's nice when someone like Espn.com writes an article singing the praises of BGSU's quarterback.

Ok, this time I'm serious. I'll try to update this thing more often. Later!

Yo, She-Bitch. Let's Go.

As Reported on Ain't It Cool News, Sam Raimi has expressed interest in doing an Evil Dead 4. (Whether he'll do it or not is up in the air) Tucked away in the article is this nice little quote. "With yesterday's confirmation, that New Line is looking seriously at doing the (an?) ASH VS FREDDY & JASON [film]." That would be kick-ass. But since it would be kick-ass that means New Line ain't gonna do it. Sigh.

Schwarzengger - Lay Meeting

As reported on Jim's website Schwarzengger had a "secret" meeting during the California Energy Crisis with Kenneth Lay of Enron. While some go into a panic and believe that he's now in bed with said energy company. To this I say: What. the. f---? He went to a meeting. Period. If he was really in bed you'd think the watchdog groups could find a vein of corruption bigger than an e-mail that mentions his name with other CEOs, CFOs, etc. While we're crucifying Arnold for being in with the evil Enron, you might as well nail the CFO to Apple computers, the CEO of Knight-Ridder new service (its a distribution service) and the CEO of Sun Microsystems. Yes they aren't running for governor but at the time neither was Arnold. It would be one thing if it was a contributor list or an e-mail saying that we've paid off these CEOs to keep quiet. I truly believe that Enron would have happened under Gore, McCain, or even Clinton, if he (god-forbid) got a third term. Even so, this is corporate McCarthyism. "Have you ever been to a meeting with a company that was later found out to be screwing over the public?"

As for the fear that he's the next Ronald Reagan, the man hasn't taken office yet. While he is a registered Republican, he's definitely not as arch-conservative as Bush or Ashcroft. He's Pro-choice, supports gay rights, endorses "reasonable" gun control, and environmental regulation. Not exactly a bulhorn for the Republican Party there. So those of you who are worried that we'll have another Florida, with blocking minority voting and hanging chads, just take a deep breath and take a step back and let's see what happens for the next six months before Arnold is recalled.
